John Chaffee

I am a sell-side Mergers & Acquisitions Intermediary with Transworld Business Brokers; a member of the Carolinas/Virginia Business Brokers Association (CVBBA) and the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) that has participated in, and taught at, several CVBBA Master Classes. I have been recognized as a top performer by the CVBBA as well as Transworld. Although Transworld handles business sales up to $250 million, my primary focus is serving: • business owners desiring to improve value and sell their companies with a particular focus on lower middle market ($2 to $25 million in revenue); • manufacturing, logistics, industrial construction, business services and technology/health care businesses; • companies located in the Carolinas and Virginia (but amenable to assisting companies across the Southeast US within reasonable driving distance of Greenville, NC). My team of professionals help successful business owners navigate life’s most complex transition, the sale of their business. We provide the guidance, structure, and foresight to ensure the most significant transaction of an owner’s life is the most rewarding, both financially and emotionally. I have four decades of progressive executive leadership experience: 1) providing assistance to startup companies; 2) the recruitment of US and international companies; and 3) the assessment of competitive landscapes and synergistic relationships to develop strategies that capitalize on unique opportunities.

Mr. Chaffee earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economic Geography with a specialization in industrial location and regional economics. He was involved in projects resulting in the creation of roughly 10,000 new primary jobs and over $1 billion of investment. Incentive negotiation, project management and networking were crucial.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s Eastern, the NC Small Business & Technology Development Center and the NC IEI. His accolades include being named “Outstanding Young Leader in Geo-Economics” by Site Selection Handbook, Top Industrial Developers by Busniess NC, and most recently as one of North Carolina Power 100 by Business NC magazine (2018). He currently serves as Board Chair of the NC Manufacturing Extension Partnership and a member of the East Carolina University College of Engineering & Technology Advisory Board.

He resides in Greenville, North Carolina with his wife Jody, has three grown (married) children, five fabulous granddaughters and a grandson. He enjoys, hiking, working in the yard, veloing and traand reading.
